Johnny Coombes

Johnny Coombes is a soulful house, house and nu disco DJ, producer and fan based in London, United Kingdom. Better known as one half of DJ/Producer duo JACK ‘N’ DANIELS. Influenced by the boom in the House music scene at the beginning of the early 90’s, Johnny started his DJ career guesting for Miss Moneypenny’s tours @ House of Windsor. After a short while he collaborated with long time friend & DJ partner Danny Allsopp, to form Jack N Daniels….the pair, spinning the finest House grooves nationwide for over 2 decades. During this time they graced the decks at most of the major venues in the UK including; Ministry of Sound, The Cross, Miss Moneypennys, Turnmills, Garage City, L’America and Pacha to name but a few…. Whilst happy playing other peoples tracks, natural progression saw a move into the production world, to add their own distinct sound and style to the scene. Their first production saw them signed to Soulfuric Recordings as Carousel, with a track called ‘Wanted’ feat the vocal talents of Krysten Cummings. They released a number of follow-up tracks, such as remixes of Rawsoul Orchestra’s ‘Been Robbed’, Loleatta Holloway’s ‘Hit N Run’, Aretha Franklin’s ‘Pride a Deeper Love’, an update to the classic Sounds of Blackness ‘The Pressure’ and an original track called ‘Saxy Groove’ on Reelhouse recordings and ‘Make it Loud’ on Kidology, which made it onto the MoS Housexy mix compilation. He later became a resident DJ @Vanilla in Windsor and Essence Kingston. After a short break from Music, now he’s back on Release Radio Weekly to bring you a selection of not only the latest House Grooves, but a delve into the Vault to share his musical knowledge from the last 25yrs.
